Degrassi: Lose Yourself (Part 1)

"Don't call my boobs equipment"

Tonight's episode of Degrassi was named after an Eminem song. We are seeing more in the lives of teen parents KC and Jenna. We are also introduced into the story surrounding Sav's crush on Ms. Oh. And we continue the love triangle with Eli/Clare/Jake.

KC warns Marisol that Jenna is coming back to Degrassi and they need to cut down on their time together. Jenna informs KC that she may not be able to return because they need someone to watch Ty during the day. She lets him know that she will find a way to return to school. She talks with other mothers, but finds that they can afford the help that she cannot. She confides her growing depression from being alone with the baby all the time in KC's mother. Jenna feels all alone now that her brother has left. KC's mother offers to help out more with Ty so Jenna can go back to school. A thrilled Jenna shows up at Little Miss Steaks to surprise KC who is hanging out with Marisol. KC and Jenna plan to make everything work out now. Jenna returns to Degrassi and joins Alli and Dave in class. Her return to class is interrupted when she has to excuse herself when her breast milk leaks, therefore missing the notes. Later Alli gives her the advice to get more involved and have fun at Degrassi. Jenna decides to help Sav come up with some music ideas. Later at home, she is changing the baby and comes up with a tune. She leaves him on the changing table and rushes over to her guitar. Jenna is horrified when Baby Ty rolls off the changing table as she strums her guitar. KC meets Jenna at the hospital and berates her for letting this happen. The two argue over their situation as the nurse returns with Baby Ty who is going to be fine. The nurse informs them that she now must file a report with child services.

Sav is quite infatuated with his teacher Ms. Oh. Chantay teases him for his crush on their teacher. Ms. Oh then offers Sav to join her during lunch to help create music for the school play. Sav attends to see that he is competing with other students to help Ms. Oh with the music, including the cocky student Mo Mashkour. Mo seems confident in his music skills and teases Sav for his obvious crush on Ms. Oh. Sav and Mo compare musical scores and Mo points out that the music should have more of a Vegas feel. Sav takes the advice and ends up winning over everyone. Ms. Oh suggest that he collaborate with Mo, but Sav rejects the offer. Later when Sav goes to work with Jenna, Mo swipes away Sav's music player. Mo then confronts him and threatens to play a song Sav wrote about Ms. Oh, unless the two can work together. Sav reluctantly agrees.

Jake and Clare still have not told their parents that they are together. Clare tries to set up a date with Jake, but Jake is busy building sets for the play. Clare is surprised to hear that Jake is working with Eli. She questions Adam about what Eli might do, but Adam does not think there is anything to worry about. Clare goes to Eli and asks him to leave Jake alone, and not ruin her relationship with him. Eli tells her not to worry, but scares her even more when he says that Jake will be out of the picture soon enough. Clare later takes Adam to go through Eli's bag, but comes up empty. She later watches as Jake works on the sets and jumps at his every move in fear that something bad will happen.

So far the episode seems to have potential to be decent, as long as the second half picks things up. We are close to the conclusion of the Jenna/KC/Marisol triangle, halfway through the Eli/Clare/Jake triangle, and just getting started on Sav and Ms. Oh. Tomorrow we will post a grade for this two part episode.
