Degrassi: U Don't Know (Part 1)

"Stop being so Type A"

The fourth week of Degrassi: Now or Never began tonight with the episode titled after a Jay-Z song. A lot of big moments for Degrassi. The timeline now has Holly J being 6 years younger than Heather who is believed to have graduated with Paige, Marco and Ellie's grade. And we have taken a hint that Katie may become Degrassi's next Queen Bee. Another event for Degrassi this week in the form of a fashion show.

Degrassi is having a fashion show and Holly J is in charge. Unfortunately for her, she collapses due to leg cramping caused by her dialysis. She later goes to the doctor and finds out that her condition is not improving, she now requires daily dialysis and a kidney donation. Holly J now hands over the reigns to Katie to handle the fashion show. Holly J gets more confusing news when she finds out that her type A blood doesn't match her family's type AB. She confides her fears in Fiona about why she is not a match for her own family and begins to notice that there are no baby pictures of her. Fiona supports her and offers to see if she is a match. Later Holly J confronts her mother who finally confesses that she had complications after giving birth to Heather and they adopted Holly J when she was 11 months old. Holly J is now on a mission to find her biological family and deal with the task of asking a stranger for a vital organ.

Katie does an interview on Dave and Adam's radio show to promote the fashion show. She lets Adam know that she listens to his show and is a fan. Adam offers to join the fashion show, as they are in need for guys to walk the models. Dave thinks Adam might have a shot with Katie and tells him to go for it. Adam and Katie have fun and he offers to be her escort at the show. To be clear, Adam asks her if she knows that he is transgender. Katie is aware but considers him to be one of the guys. The night of the show seems to go well and Adam walks Katie down the runway and the two plan to celebrate afterwards. Adam questions Marisol about Katie, and is disappointed when Marisol tells him that Katie would not be interested in him due to his female body. Adam asks Dave to look his covered chest and tell him if his breasts are noticeable. Dave is reluctant but looks and confirms that Adam can only hide his breasts so much.

Imogen praises Eli about his writing for the play and lets him know that she is interested in the character based on Clare. Eli tells her that she may audition for it but really needs to capture Clare. Imogen begins to mimic and study Clare. Clare notices and is initially weirded out. Imogen begs her to help prepare for this part to get closer to Eli. Clare wants Eli to move on so she helps Imogen out. Imogen reads all of Clare's favorite books in one night and promises Clare to portray her in a more sympathetic way as opposed to the way Eli may write it. In exchange Clare lends her some of her clothing. Eli auditions many girls, including Sadie, but does not find the perfect one until Imogen walks in wearing Clare's dress from the "A Night in Vegas" dance from last semester. The two recreate the night during the audition and Imogen shares a passionate kiss with Eli.

So far this episode seems to have potential but we will know for sure with part two tomorrow. We will post our review along with the recap after.
