Pretty Little Liars: The Devil You Know

"And I thought my no party crashers policy was strict"

Thank you Pretty Little Liars for reminding us of the show we fell in love with last summer. This may have been the most exciting episode of the season. The last episode left off with the emotion and shock over finding Ian's dead body next to a suicide note in which he confessed to murdering Alison. This episode has so many shocking revelations that it can get confusing. Also if you pay close attention you'll realize a little over a week has gone by since the Season 1 finale. We soon find out that Ian had been dead for a week, which leads us to believe that he may have actually died from being hung.

Aria confides her feelings about Ian's death in Ezra. The two are hoping they can have a real relationship, but the second his ex Jackie walks in the room, they both switch back to parading around as teacher and student. They hope to start off introducing each other as "friends" before the big reveal. This is later unsuccessful when Ezra reverts back to the teacher role for the funeral and sits with Aria's parents. Later Aria is stunned when Jason brings Mike home, after he tried to break into his house. Aria discovers that Mike was the one breaking into their houses and who knocked her down previously. Mike once again reminds Aria of what it could do to their family if she rats on him. After the funeral Aria once again has a talk with Jason. He confesses his jealousy of Alison and their parents adoration for her. He also makes a shocking confession that he blacked out the night Alison died and had been under the impression that he may have been the one to kill her, but since he believes it was Ian he is no longer worried. He even shows Aria a note he recieved saying "I know what you did".

Leading the "A" mystery is now on the shoulders of Emily (a role that Spencer had in the first four episodes of this season). The other Liars are ready to move on but Emily is more skeptical. She continues looking a picture of the suicide note and gets a text from "A" that reads "Hey Em, is it just me or does the suicide not look familiar?" Later she is picking up a package for her Mom and recognizes the employee as Logan Reed, the decoy hired to distract the girls from Ian in the Season 1 finale. Emily is now inspired to review their past text messages from "A". She later shocks the girls when she points out that the note was made up of the text messages such as "She knew too much" and "Come find me". Ian never confessed to Alison's murder. She later pressures Logan who confesses that a woman hired him, he never met her or Ian. Emily tries to share this with Spencer, but she wants to move on. Emily confides some of her theories in her cop friend Garret. He promises to look into it but apparently is still working with Jenna. After another message from "A" that reads "Sometimes the distance between point A to point B is the long way around", Emily takes the girls to the cemetary.

Hanna's mother confesses that this past year she has been living in fear that something horrible could happen to Hanna. Hanna assures her the nightmare is over now. Caleb checks on Hanna and the two begin to have a friendship again. Hanna finds out about Caleb's foster mom keeping the money she recieves for him while he's still living with Lucas. Hanna later takes it upon herself to stand up to Caleb's foster mom with empty threats. Which later work and push Hanna and Caleb into a liplock at the end of the episode. Hanna talks with her Mom about her grandfather whom her mother had a bad relationship with, and Hanna promises to be respectful at the funeral.

The Hasting family is debating on what to do about Ian's funeral. Melissa remains in a silent depression, so Spencer stands up and tells her family that they need to have a funeral for Ian. Her mother later apoligizes for not believing Spencer and pushing her away from her friends. The Hasting family holds a service for Ian, and use security to keep out unwanted guests. Spencer recieves a text from "A" warning her about the ring "Would Mommy hug a thief? Tell the truth Spencer or get the ring when you least expect it". Spencer is ready to confess to Melissa, but Melissa stops her and begins apoligizing. Right as Melissa is about to confess a secret to Spencer, another "ring" comes unexpectadly. Ian's cell phone is ringing from Spencer's purse. Spencer has no idea how it got there, but Melissa jumps to the conclusion that Spencer was behind the texts that had supposedly came from Ian. Melissa berates Spencer and storms out.

The girls go the cemetary with Emily. They are shocked when they see "A" projecting the last video of Alison with Ian. Only this time the video plays on and reveales that Alison was still alive after Ian left, leaving them to the conclusion that Ian is not the murder! This raises a million more questions. This episode gets the grade A, it reminds us of how incredibly shocking and exciting Pretty Little Liars can be and proves that they haven't even begun to run out of fuel on this show.
