Highland Gardens News! 8/03/11

Today Stephen Stohn has posted more news about the new drama Highland Gardens! Stohn has finally made it official that Highland Gardens is not going to be a spin-off of Degrassi as many expected.

He did announce more of the cast members joining the show!

 

Above are in order Jon Dinicol, Andra Fuller, Jonathan Patrick Moore, and Benjamin Charles Watson. All four men are joining the drama in lead roles.

Highland Gardens Casting News!!!

Highland Gardens is the mush anticipated TV show that is currently in production. Things are very quiet on the show, but it's widely believed that this will indeed be a spin-off of Degrassi. Casting news has been leaked for the show!

Jewel Staite and Chelan Simmons have both been cast in the new show! It's already been reported that Cassie Steele is reprising her role as Manny Santos, a popular Degrassi character from seasons 1-9.

Degrassi Spin Off? Highland Gardens!

Many have been wondering if the new drama from the creators of Degrassi would be a spin-off. Now degrassiblog.com broke the news that imdb has listed Cassie Steele as Manny Santos for one of the characters.

CTV ordered the show for a season and described it as ""Highland Gardens" follows the ins and outs of an apartment-style motel in LA which draws aspiring Canadian hopefuls looking for a place to rest their heads while they chase their Hollywood dreams. Production is scheduled to begin in Summer 2011." Can you say Melrose Place? Melrose Place was a spin off of Beverly Hills 90210 back in the day. Though to be fair Degrassi has a history that goes beyond that franchise.

Manny Santos was one of Degrassi's most memorable characters from the first scene in the pilot episode. Fans saw her go through pregnancy, abortion, eating disorders, self esteem issues, scandals, rivarly, college, romance, and finally making her Hollywood dreams come true.

No word on what US station might pick up the show. However our guess is that Teennick would love to try and have a show that could be as successful as Degrassi, or at least one that last longer than a season or two.
