Graduation 101
It's been a big year for the class of 2011 in the world of teen drama! West Beverly, Degrassi, and Grant all celebrated big graduations this year. Confessions, illness, proposals, everything you can imagine happens at these graduations.
For 90210, this marked the end of the high school chapter of the series. For Degrassi, this was a farewell to several of the main characters, and for The Secret Life it was a splitting up half the cast of high school and now out of high school.
Graduation is a big moment in the world of teen drama and has been used as a major plot device and story arc on nearly all long lasting teen dramas. It's a huge transitional step that can either boost or break a show. Critics have stated opinions that teen drama series' tend to "jump the shark" once they leave high school and move into the real world. Do any of you readers have opinions on whether or not a teen drama can be successful when taken out of high school? Shows like Degrassi have mastered the art of focusing on the school and following future generations of students. Then shows like Beverly Hills 90210 follow the main characters as they enter adulthood. Both attempts have been proven to be both successful and unsuccessful given the programs.
For now lets take a moment to remember some of the memories of teen drama graduations throughout the years!
Do you have a favorite? How do you feel about teen dramas leaving high school behind? How should a graduation episode be written?

Pretty Little Liars: Over My Dead Body
"Two can only keep a secret if one of them is dead"
The episode starts off with Spencer, Hanna, and Aria at the police station covered in dirt. Detective Wilden has returned to finally prove that these girls murdered Alison. 12 hours earlier we see the girls at Dr. Sullivan's house looking for her, but she has not returned home and left a voicemail saying she is out of town. Later the girls are at Spencer's house where they get the Ransom note ordering them to do what A says by 6pm. Back at the police discover that the record on how Alison died is gone. Aria makes an emotional phone call. Toby shows up to see Spencer but is unable to. Spencer's parents show up as well as Jason DiLaurentis who assures Spencer's father that he knows his secret that even his wife would be surprised to hear.
Most of the episode takes place earlier that day leading up to the girls being arrested.
Aria stops by to see Ezra chatting with Jackie. Jackie hits on him and Ezra informs her he's seeing someone. Aria's phone vibrates so she walks away. She then sees that A sent her a picture of Dr. Sullivan holding up the newspaper, proving that she's still alive. A gives Aria proof that Jackie plagiarized her paper that is about to be published and orders her to "make Jackie go away". She goes to Jackie and shows her the proof and orders her to leave town or else. Later her mother apologizes for making her lie and assures her that things went well with Mike's therapist. Jackie shows up at her house and turns the tables. Aria has to break up with Ezra, otherwise Jackie will spill about their relationship and ruin his career.
Toby later finds out his brake line was severed which could have caused him to crash, but he figures it was just an accident on his end. Spencer has not shared with Toby the reason why her father was at the DiLaurentis house. Toby pushes her not to go along with her father's wishes. Spencer later gets her doll from A that tells her to "keep Toby safe". She realizes A cut Toby's brake line. She later confesses to Toby that she lied about her father not saying anything. She tells him there are so many things she could never tell him. She ends things with Toby and runs off in tears where she is spotted by Wren. Wren consoles her and helps her get ready for the wedding and then kisses her.
Maya comes over to Hanna's house to see Emily. Maya tells Emily that she wants to start off as friends so she can get to know the new Emily. Emily is shocked to see that she is the only one who does not get a doll with a request from A. Emily later finds her doll in the back of the car and her GPS ready to lead her to Dr. Sullivan. The girls worry when Emily doesn't show up for the wedding. Emily arrives in a garage with a parked car that is running. She gets trapped inside and later passes out. Someone drags her out before she dies. She dreams of Alison comforting her and telling that she knows who A is and that Emily has to choose between life and death. She wakes up to see all of her friends circled around her.
After finding Emily the girls get directions on where to find Dr. Sullivan. They realized that A must have buried her alive the way Alison was and the girls quickly dig to save her. The girls are shocked to find a mannequin followed by the police surrounding them.
At the police station Ezra shows up. Ella informs him that she knows his secret and lets him know her disapproval and suggest he end things. Ezra tells her he's in love but soon realizes that Ella thinks he is involved with Spencer. Meanwhile the girls are upset to find out Wilden has been reinstated because of his evidence. Jenna and Garret are thrilled that their plan to take down the girls is working and that Jason has no idea they were the ones who gave him that note the night Alison went missing. Wilden informs them that the shovel Alison was killed with was the one they were using tonight, and the girls realize A left them the shovel purposely to frame them. Garret then has Jenna burn the page 5 that proves how Alison died so there is no evidence against them. Jenna exclaims that Alison deserved to die.
At the end we see A eating with Dr. Sullivan. Dr. Sullivan assures that she did everything A asked. A hands her an envelope and an upset Dr. Sullivan walks away.
Pretty Little Liars does not disappoint in the finales! This episode hands down gets an A+! It answered so many questions yet it did not. Are we sure that Jenna and Garret killed Alison? It sounded like they were A but then they weren't! Looks like it'll be a long wait until 2012. But luckily ABC Family is airing a special Halloween prequel!

Pretty Little Liars: I Must Confess
"And I'm the first person you've told about this?"
Emily hasn't slept in weeks and she keeps getting texts from "A". Hanna wakes up that morning to see Emily is missing. The girls find Emily's phone she left behind and see that "A" is now trying to force her to rat on Aria and Ezra's relationship. Emily runs to Dr. Sullivan's office ready to talk, but to her surprise all of her friends have beat her there. The four discuss the situation and Dr. Sullivan asks what's going on. The girls fill her in on everything, with a few exceptions such as what happened with Jenna. Emily later spends the evening with Hanna's mother and the two chat about their lives. It turns out it's not Samara that Emily has been missing, when she meets up for a dinner with Maya. The two catch up and Emily informs her on how much things have changed, such as her mother. Emily apologizes for how things were the first time around with them.
Hanna gets some of Spencer's old horse books as a gift to her stepsister as a peace offering. Hanna's grandmother comes to town for the dinner. Hanna's father wants her to give a toast along with Kate at the dinner, but her grandmother suggest she skip it, she wants Hanna's parents back together. The night of the dinner, her grandmother is very cold to Isabel. Hanna and Kate decide to make peace and put the past behind them. Kate shares vodka with Hanna as they prepare for their speech. Kate continues getting Hanna to drink more and more through the night. Kate steps out and leaves Hanna alone with Isabel's dress which she later throws up on, this pleases Kate. Her father finds out and berates her for trying to sabotage the wedding, as it turns out Kate just gave a completely sober speech. Her grandmother defends her and when Kate comes in to taunt Hanna, Hanna's grandmother dumps out Kate's purse to find the vodka. She shows Hanna that Kate was drinking water the whole time. Hanna swears her revenge against Kate.
Toby is working at Jason's house when he spots Jenna kissing Garret in his car outside. He later shares this information with Spencer. The two are making out in his truck at night when they see shadows watching them from the window of Jason's house. Spencer storms out to confront them while Toby chases after her. She is stunned to see her father coming out of the DiLaurentis house. Spencer questions why he's there but he won't tell her. He yells at Toby for getting Spencer involved and orders Spencer to go home. But to his dismay Spencer gets in Toby's truck and the two drive off. When she gets home her father tells her that the DiLaurentis family hired him to change their grandmother's will to include Jason, as she had cut him out and left it all to Alison. They feared it would make him look like a suspect. Spencer has a flashback to Alison questioning Hanna's grandmother about what it would take to make a grandmother disown her grandchild. Spencer realizes Alison went to Georgia to get Jason out of the will. Spencer wants to go to the police but her father cannot risk losing his career. Spencer asks what the DiLaurentis family has on them, but he will not answer anymore questions.
Aria's parents are worried about Mike and arguing with how to deal. That night Aria tries to get Mike to come down to help with dinner, but he is busy on his computer. When his mother comes up he tries to kick them out of the room. His mother tries to take his computer and the two break out into a struggle that ends with Ella hurting her hand and Mike storming out. Ella begs Aria not to tell her father what happened. Aria now struggles with keeping another secret for another parent. Aria later sees Mike crying and consoles him as he worries about his mother and himself. Aria comes down and tells her parents that she cannot keep anymore secrets. Mike follows her down the stairs to talk to his parents.
Dr. Sullivan gives a talk at the school to talk about cyber bullying and hints to "A" that damage that can happen if they continue to harass the girls. The girls get paranoid but realize it was time to speak up. As they walk out Jenna taunts the girls and reminds them what a bully Alison was. Later while leaving her office, Dr. Sullivan gets a phone call that keeps replaying her voice from her session with the girls. The cops show up to look for signs of bugging but come up empty handed. Garret is on the scene and asks for the names of the patients from the session but Dr. Sullivan tells them it's confidential. Dr. Sullivan goes through the girl's files and then checks out one more and realizes another one of her patients is "A". She calls Emily to get the other girls to meet at her office so she can reveal "A"'s identity once and for all. The girls show up to see no sign of Dr. Sullivan. They get a text from "A" saying "The Doctor is out".
At the end we see "A" grabbing a few things from the office including the hidden microphone.
This episode had family, rivalry, love, and of course the never ending mystery surrounding "A" and Alison's death. This episode gets an A and next week is the summer finale!

Florida Family Association Targeting Pretty Little Liars
The Florida Family association holds goals of improving the moral environment of America. They are currently taking on the hit ABC Family teen drama series Pretty Little Liars. The show has featured Emily (played by Shay Mitchell) who is an athlete, good student, and a lesbian. Since the show has began Emily has had 3 relationships with other females, roughly the same amount of dating partners as the other three Liars. The FFA does not feel it's right to target a show that features homosexual characters towards teenagers. They are asking advertisers to pull from the show, and reporting that some advertisers are indeed pulling because of that reason (however some such as General Mills announced that the decision had nothing to do with The FFA or having a lesbian character).
Last year you may remember reading a simaler story about The FFA targeting Canadian based teen drama series Degrassi. Degrassi garnered praise for showcasing different LGBT characters through it's generations of high school. The FFA did not find it realistic that a quarterback could be gay, or a straight girl would date a transgendered boy. (Fans eventually found out Fiona's character was a lesbian for the record). The FFA also claimed Kodak pulled due to gay propaganda, but Kodak assured the public that they had not pulled from Degrassi.
The FFA does tend to get certain facts wrong, saying such things as Degrassi focusing on gay teen Riley (who is actually featured little compared to the other 20+ of the main cast). Also saying that Pretty Little Liars has featured 3 lesbian main characters (Emily is the only lesbian of the main characters, her girlfriends have only been recurring).
Some viewers may be worried as we know that The Parent's Television Council had a hand in getting Skins US off the air, but that was focusing more on "child pornography" claims.
How do you feel about the Florida Family association? Are they right in their choices to attempt getting these shows off the air? Or are they wrong to try and hide something as real as homosexuality?

Ryan Rottman Joins 90210!
Looks like the population just keeps expanding for America's favorite zip code! Actor Ryan Rottman will be joining as Shane, a gay male who fights for equality. Possibly a new love interest for Trevor Donovan's Teddyr? Or maybe a replacement to fill as the gay character?
Many of you may remember him as Joey on TeenNick's Gigantic! Or as Ryder on an episode of Nickelodeon's Victorious. He also had a guest spot on ABC Family's Greek.
This year he has been rumored to be dating Victorious star, Victora Justice. He was also caught up in some DUI drama. But it looks like he'll be joining this teen drama in the fall!
90210 returns for it's fourth season Tuesday September 13 on The CW!

Pretty Little Liars: Touched By An 'A'-ngel
"Nos Animadverto Totus: We See All"
The surprises, secrets, and lies never stop in Rosewood. Tonight's episode once again proved that the show is still packed with drama, and not showing any signs of slowing down. This episode was directed by Chad Lowe who plays Aria's father Byron.
Spencer and Toby are packing up Ian's things, and stumble upon and old yearbook. They look up his activities and see the N.A.T. club, which Spencer does not recognize. They look through yearbooks from before and after that year, none list the club. However, they notice that the other two members are Garret Reynolds and Jason DiLaurentis. She then finds a T-shirt that says "Nos Animadverto Totus", which is Latin for "We See All". Spencer now suspects that Jason and Garret were a part of Ian's perverted actions of videotaping the girls, and that one of them may have killed Alison for having the evidence. Spencer worries about Aria, and confides in Ezra. She tells him that she knows about his relationship with Aria and warns him about how dangerous Jason is, even telling him about the pictures they found. Neither of them notice that Aria's mom is watching. Spencer later walks downstairs at her house to find Jenna in her living room. Jenna warns her to stop digging, and insists that she is heading into danger. Spencer throws her out and asks her to say hi to Garret, letting her know that she is aware of their relationship. Aria later lets Spencer know that she isn't angry at her for telling Ezra.
"A" seems to be targeting Emily, which is leaving Emily tense and stressed. Hanna's mother gives Emily a gift certificate to a spa to get a massage. While eating her cereal she notices that all the letters are A's and gets a message in the box from "A" tell her that the weakest link is the easiest to break. She also runs into their former therapist, Dr. Sullivan who offers to talk to her again if she wants. Emily tells her that there is still stuff that they have not shared with her, but Emily needs to. Emily goes to get a relaxing massage later that day. The masseuse steps out but later as Emily is face down, she feels an amazing massage. Shortly after, the masseuse returns and apologizes running late. Emily is horrified to find out that someone else was massaging her, and sees "A" left their initial on a glass of water. As she gets ready to call Dr. Sullivan, she gets a message from "A" remind her how easily they can get their hands around her neck. Emily is now upset knowing that if she had looked up from the table that she would finally know who "A" is. She does not tell her friends about her plans to see Dr. Sullivan again.
Aria questions Jason about the pictures her friends found at his place. He tells her that the pictures were taken by Alison, he was just developing them. He also claims he moved the equipment because it's expensive and he feared it would be stolen. Aria apologizes but points out how bad it looked. Meanwhile Aria's mother runs into Dr. Sullivan and asks about getting Mike into a therapist. It's the college fair at school and Aria see Ezra. She goes to approach him but changes her mind when she sees him with Jackie. Later he walks over to chat with her but gets the cold shoulder. She tells him that Jackie still likes him and she doesn't trust her. Ezra assures her that he has no feelings for Jackie anymore. Aria accidentally lets it slip that she kissed Jason. Before Ezra can react, Jackie walks over and request his help. Jackie lets Aria know that college will be good for her, and make her see how naive she is now. Jason later sits with Aria and shows her the pictures that Alison took. He informs her of a box of Alison's that he found, which intrigues Aria but he assures her that it's just filled with girl stuff. He still offers to let her see it and she follows him to his place. Once they get their he goes to get it from his shed while she chooses to wait in the yard. Ezra pulls up and tells Aria that Spencer warned him about Jason, and he knows about the pictures. He tells her that he doesn't want to lose her, and he is tired of hiding. Ezra is ready to go public with their relationship and wants to start with her parents. The two share a kiss witnessed by Jason, who then gives Aria the box of Alison's. Aria thanks him gets in the car with Ezra. At home Aria's mother asks her to help Mike get used to the idea of going to therapy. She then tells her that she saw Ezra with Spencer and questions if something is going on. Aria assures her nothing is going on but questions how she would feel about it. Ella makes it clear to her daughter that she would feel betrayed if she found out Ezra took advantage of his role as a teacher. Aria realizes it may not go well telling her parents about Ezra.
Jenna tells Garret that the girls know about them, and are still digging. She tells him that it's time to talk to Jason. Later Garret shows up at Jason's and asks him where they stand now.
The Liars really seem to be spilling secrets this season. Slowly they are letting their walls down and we may be getting closer to them finally telling people about "A". We give this episode an B+, it may not be the most intense and things did not seem to flow as well but it is building things up nicely. There are two more episodes left before the show goes on hiatus.
Next Week: "I Must Confess"

Pretty Little Liars: Picture This
"You're playing with fire"
Pretty Little Liars is always leading the way in today's new generation of mystery TV. There always seems to be some big revelation before every commercial break and tonight was no different. Early in the episode we see Hanna, Emily and Spencer as candy stripers, sneaking back into the morgue. They overhear that Jenna is getting a cornea transplant in order to get her vision back. The girls now fear of how much more of a threat Jenna will be if/when she can see.
Aria has a passionate dream where she is kissing Ezra, and towards the end of her dream he turns into Jason. Aria is shocked and awoken from her dream. Emily later questions Aria about her closeness with Jason and Aria confesses her dream. Emily worries about her hanging out with Jason but Aria also points out that they once thought Toby may have killed Alison as well. Emily promises not to tell anyone as long as Aria stays away from Jason. Later Aria surprises Ezra in his office and the two hook up together before his next class. Afterwards she waits around to talk more with him. Ezra questions if anything is going on and Aria claims she just wants to spend time with him. Later Aria has a dream about making love with Ezra and once again he turns into Jason later in the dream. She shares her new dream with Emily but assures her that she is happy with Ezra and has no romantic interest in Jason. Meanwhile, Aria's parents are worried about Mike. When her father goes to talk with him, he sees something in him that reminds him of his own brother. Byron is now worried for his son. Jason later visits Aria and the two talk, until Aria gets uncomfortable and makes an excuse to get him to leave. Later Aria is walking and Jason pulls up and gets out to talk with her. Jason confesses his feelings for her and kisses her. Aria pulls back, apologizes, and tells him that she is unavailable. Meanwhile Jenna and Garret watch fro a distance, and Jenna worries that Jason will remember what happened that night and tell Aria.
Emily is throwing out all of their lotions in case A got to them too, she is afraid of A's next move. Hanna's mother Ashley later allows Emily to have friends over while everyone else is gone, she wants Emily to feel comfortable while abiding by the same rules as Hanna. Emily has Samara and her friends over to play poker. It's all fun until A texts her and orders her to get the number of one of Samara's friends or else her medical test results will go viral and ruin her swimming career. Emily reluctantly slips the girl her number, which is seen by another friend of Samara's. Samara confronts Emily about it the next day and Emily claims she just wanted to get to know her friend better. She doesn't buy it and walks out on Emily for being dishonest with her.
Hanna has not talked to her father since he left and is not sure that she wants to be a part of his wedding. She later sees Caleb talking to the "cop" that was following him. Caleb reveals that it was actually a private investigator hired by his mother. The two look up his mother and discover that she is living in California, wealthy, and has young children. Hanna questions him about wanting to meet her, but he changes the subject and leaves to get pizza. Later Hanna finds him sitting in a park, she pushes him to call his mother and talk with her. That night Caleb comes to her house to tell her that the phone call went great. He talked with his mother about a lot and decided to go to California to get to know her better, and he has to leave tonight. A very sad Hanna supports him in his decision. Caleb tells her that he'll be back for her. After an emotional farewell the two declare their love for each other and Caleb leaves. Hanna later calls her father and gets ready to schedule a fitting for her bridesmaid dress.
Spencer notices Jason panicking when a worker tries to enter his shed. She grows even more suspicious about what he could be hiding. She informs her mother of what happened with her father and the hockey stick. Her mother trusts her father and tells her that she cannot trust the DiLaurentis family, including Jason. After her mother leaves to see Melissa, Spencer and Emily run over to sneak into Jason's shed. The girls get in using the spare key hidden above the door. They look around and realize it is Jason's darkroom. They look on the walls and are shocked to see pictures of Aria sleeping. When Jason comes home the girls race out, leaving behind a dropped photo and the flashlight which Jason finds later. The girls later return to see that the key is gone, but the shed is open. They are stunned when they open to see a completely empty shed with their flashlight left on and standing straight up.
At the end we see "A" in a darkroom, developing pictures of Spencer and Emily lurking together.
This episode was not as good at grabbing our attention but it still was a great episode and gave us more questions and more to speculate about. Just when you think the story can't get more complicated it does. This episode gets a B+ for a grade. We are only a few episodes left before the summer finale!

Pretty Little Liars: Save The Date
"She has a hole in her stomach!"
The girls now know that Garret is working with Jenna. They follow him to her house and watch as the two make out. Garret and Jenna realize the girls are onto them and that they are questioning whether or not Ian killed Alison. Jenna wants to put a stop to this.
Aria's brother Mike is still troubled and fighting with his old friends. His Mom tries to confront him about it but he lashes out and reminds her that she walked out on them before when she moved out. Ezra stops by and visits Aria to ask her how she's doing. She tells him that she knew about Mike's problems for a while thanks to Jason. Ezra questions why she didn't tell him and wants her to not be embarrassed with him. As he leaves he asks her if he needs to be worried about her and Jason, she assures him that he shouldn't. Later Ezra meets her at the hospital. While they are talking she gets a call from Jason, but lies and tells Ezra it's her father.
Emily has been training incredibly hard for her next meet, especially since a scout from Danby will be there and might be her last chance. She is surprised to see her father who has come back to watch her at her meet. Things take a turn for the worst when Emily collapses in pain at school and is rushed to the hospital. There they tell her that she has developed an ulcer. Emily worries that she has blown her chances at Danby and won't be able to swim for a while. She is ready to tell her parents the truth about school. Emily is shocked when Dr. Wren comes in and tells her that they found traces of performance enhancing drugs in her system. Emily knows she hasn't taken anything. She gets a message later from "A" and realizes that "A" has been injecting the drugs into Emily's medicine. Just when she's ready to confess, her father tells her that they don't want her to pressure herself to get into Danby, therefore she has no need now to confess.
In the morning Hanna wakes up to her father coming down for breakfast, claiming that he drank too much and slept over. The situation becomes more awkward when Hanna gets her invitation to her father's wedding to Isabel. Hanna later sees Caleb doing his sketchy business and being watched by a cop. She is hesitant to tell him, as she fears he'll run. Meanwhile, her mother asks her father to leave and go be with his fiance'. Hanna is angry when she finds out and tells her mom that her father still loves her, but her mother is tired of living a fantasy. Hanna tears up her invitation in anger. Hanna finally tells Caleb what has been going on and he worries it's concerning his past. Caleb promises Hanna that he is not going anywhere. She later warns the "cop" to stay away from Caleb, because he is happy and has a good life. The man later phones the person who hired him to find Caleb, and tells them that Caleb will not want to see them.
Wren stops by the Hastings residence to see Melissa, who is not there. Spencer uses this time to question him about the morgue at the hospital where Wren is working at in Rosewood for 6 months. Soon, Spencer realizes that Wren came there to see her but she reminds him that she has a boyfriend now. At school, Garret questions Spencer about what she was talking about the night before but she tells him it was nothing and rushes off to class, leaving him suspicious. While visiting Emily at the hospital she finds the morgue and decides to pose as a candy striper with Aria to find the file on Alison. The girls go in and find out a lot more about Alison's death. Alison was hit with an object that could very well be the hockey stick, however that did not kill her. Alison died after she was buried alive! The girls deal with this devastatingly tragic information and share it with Emily. As Spencer puts the file back together the girls notice that page 5 is now missing.
While in the morgue, we see a body pop up underneath the sheet. It is assumed to be "A".
This episode was not as dark and intense. But it certainly gave a lot of new information and also meshed well with the more relatable stories going on with the characters. We gives this episode an A- and praise the show for getting us excited again!

Pretty Little Liars: Surface Tension
"It's not even the good kind of candy"
This season the show is really focusing on more than just the four liars. We're seeing more of their parents, siblings, acquaintances, etc. While it's a nice move, it really made this episode lack when it came to how much story time the girls got.Emily hardly had anything going on in this episode. She is now living with Hanna and her mother, she is making them breakfast and letting them know how grateful she is for being welcomed into their home. Her only problem is how distracting Hanna can be when "every night is a sleepover". She also is having pains that she says are from her longer work outs for swimming.
Hanna is enjoying having Emily staying at her house. Her only worries lie in Caleb who is struggling for money and refuses to accept anymore help from Hanna. She tells him she does not like seeing him do sketchy stuff to get money. Caleb informs her of the difference between sketchy and criminal. Caleb previously got involved with some bad guys who stole cars, and when he got out they were angry. Luckily he was gone before they did anything to him. She suggest he go to the police but he refuses and makes her promise to keep his secret to herself, as she is now the only person he has told. Later while she is chilling with Emily, Hanna sees her parents laughing, kissing, and walking to the bedroom together.
Spencer's father has hired Toby to do some work at their house around the barn. He has already nixed Jason's plans to build a fence that would have been on their property. Things are going well, Toby has got a head start and even had some design ideas that were well received by Mr. Hastings. Spencer is talking to Garret (their cop buddy), who tells her that Logan is gone and she should stop pushing for questions since Ian confessed and is dead. Meanwhile, Toby discovers part of a field hockey stick in the Hastings backyard. When Peter (Spencer's father) sees this he takes it and assures Toby not to worry about it. Toby tells Spencer who realizes that it was her stick that she lent to Alison. She and Aria remember Jason jokingly trying to hit Alison with it at one point. Peter tells Toby not to inform Spencer of what he found, Toby tells him that he already has but lies and says Spencer was not interested in it. Later Spencer sees her father about to burn it, she begs him not to. He is tired of the investigation, Ian is dead and now it's time for them to move on. Spencer watches as her father throws the stick into the fire. Spencer worries her father thinks she is trying to cause more drama and attention. While she is talking more with Garret, she gets a text message from Aria warning her not to trust him.
Aria's family is having a dinner party and Ezra has been invited. Aria asks him not to go but he tells her that it would be best for their relationship if he came and let people see them as friends. Aria runs into Jason, who is planning on talking to the troubled kids at Rosewood, and finds out that he will be joining the get together as well. Their parents really want Mike to go, and he is ordered to attend. While at school, Aria's mother questions her about who could have pulled that "prank" at the fashion show, but Aria assures her that she has no idea. Ezra and Jason are both present at the dinner party where everything comes to a halt when the police arrive to inform them that Mike has been arrested for breaking into a home. Aria's parents rush to see their son and eventually Aria is left with Ezra and Jason. She confides in Jason (the other person who knew about Mike's trouble), she blames herself but Jason tells her that she cannot beat herself up for what her brother does. Ezra doesn't seem happy to see Aria chatting with Jason. Later Aria asks the men to leave after she finds the pottery Jenna made in class among the stolen items that Mike has. She later confronts Mike who tells her he got the pottery from Garret's apartment. Aria realizes that Garret is connected to Jenna and alerts her friends.
We also see that the Mom's are getting suspicious about everything that has happened this past year with the girls.
A sends Hanna and Emily a basket with a card that says: "What fun, two liars under one roof. You're making it so easy." - A.
At the end we see "A" injecting some liquid with a needle into a bottle.
This episode was lacking major with our Liars. We hardly saw Emily, and very little of Hanna. Plus the stories themselves just aren't flowing and everything just seems to be thrown together. Let's hope the episodes bounce back up soon. There was still some good drama and twists, the girls finally know Garret is working with Jenna, and Spencer's father is making the plot even more twisted and interesting. We give this episode a B-, the episode just didn't have enough excitement to make up for the dull moments this time. But it's Pretty Little Liars and they still have enough surprises to keep them from getting a very low grade.

Pretty Little Liars: Never Letting Go
"One of a kind and all mine. Just like you guys."
This week's episode seemed like a transition episode. Old stories were getting wrapped up, but with enough openings to tear them back again later, and new stories began. I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of Jason and Samara, as well as Hanna and Spencer's fathers. This episode is right after the girls realize that Ian may not have killed Alison after all.
Aria is with the girls discussing "A" and getting ready for the fashion show coming up when she gets a text message. She lets her friends believe it's from Ezra when it's actually from Jason. Jason tells her he should not have confided in her, but she assures him that his secret is safe with her. She later stands up for him when Spencer talks about how dangerous he could be. The girls get an email from Jessica DeLaurentis (Ali's Mom). She meets them all for lunch and gives them Alison's dresses to wear for the fashion show, which they hesitantly agree to. Aria talks to her Mom about people blacking out and forgetting a whole day of their lives. Her mother tells her that sometimes they just need something to jog their memory. Aria meets Jason to pick out pictures for the slideshow dedication to Alison at the show. Her attempt to jog his memory with old pictures is obvious and Jason feels like he's being interegated, which causes him to leave. While at the fashion show the girls are shocked when someone edits Alison's slideshow with a Bitch is Back theme with the words "Evil" "Monster" and "Bitch" on the screen. Noel, who was the DJ, taunts Aria when he brings the DVD over which Jason takes and breaks. Aria tells Jason she wishes people would let Alison rest, but everyone wants the "dirty details". Jason drives Aria home.
Emily's Mom is lonely without Emily's Dad. Emily suggests that her mother move to be with him now and let Emily stay here until the school year is over in June. Her mother says she'll think about it. Later she invites Samara to the fashion show along with a friend Samara already had plans with. Emily is worried when she sees how touchy Samara is with her friend. She confronts her about it and Samara assures her that they are just friends, but reminds her that she's the one who wanted to take things slow. Emily's mother later tells her that she agrees to go be with her father while Emily finishes her school year and has Hanna's mother looking after her.
Hanna's friends are all pushing her to get official with Caleb again, but she does not want to jump into a relationship with him. She is unhappy with her father and mother getting close again. Her father brings her lunch and tries to talk with her about working on their relationship, but Hanna accuses him of using her to get close to her Mom, whom she suspects he still loves. After seeing her parents dancing at the crazy fashion show Hanna is walked home by Caleb. When she arrives her Dad informs her that he is not ready to leave yet. A more warm Hanna says she'll see him in the morning.
Spencer's friends notice she is more romantic and less serious due to her relationship with Toby. Melissa is on a trip at the moment so Spencer is not dealing with that problem at the moment. She overhears her father on the phone with Jessica DiLaurentis, aruging about Jason being in town. Her father immidiantly lies when she questions him about it. Spencer is upset to find out that Mona has taken over the fashion show and her place at the head of the committee due to Spencer being MIA lately. She vents to Toby who suggest she just be happy that the bad stuff is over. After seeing her father arguing with Jessica again, she questions him directly. He tells her not to worry, but sternly warns her to stay away from Jason DiLaurentis.
After the fashion show, "A" left the girls a message which they saw on the wall that read "My Dresses. My Game, My Rules - A". We also see A spelled out in glasses and in the final scene we see "A" buying boots online.
This episode was not one of the best for PLL. This season has been awesome so far, always something exciting while still telling relatable stories as well. This episode was far from bad, but it just was not up to par. We would give this a B- for this one. They focused less on "A" which is not necessarily a bad thing, but where did they focus? No Ezra, Melissa, or Lucas, and very little Caleb. It seems they are moving the girls in new directions, and hopefully this next arc of stories will get better.

Pretty Little Liars: The Devil You Know
"And I thought my no party crashers policy was strict"
Thank you Pretty Little Liars for reminding us of the show we fell in love with last summer. This may have been the most exciting episode of the season. The last episode left off with the emotion and shock over finding Ian's dead body next to a suicide note in which he confessed to murdering Alison. This episode has so many shocking revelations that it can get confusing. Also if you pay close attention you'll realize a little over a week has gone by since the Season 1 finale. We soon find out that Ian had been dead for a week, which leads us to believe that he may have actually died from being hung.
Aria confides her feelings about Ian's death in Ezra. The two are hoping they can have a real relationship, but the second his ex Jackie walks in the room, they both switch back to parading around as teacher and student. They hope to start off introducing each other as "friends" before the big reveal. This is later unsuccessful when Ezra reverts back to the teacher role for the funeral and sits with Aria's parents. Later Aria is stunned when Jason brings Mike home, after he tried to break into his house. Aria discovers that Mike was the one breaking into their houses and who knocked her down previously. Mike once again reminds Aria of what it could do to their family if she rats on him. After the funeral Aria once again has a talk with Jason. He confesses his jealousy of Alison and their parents adoration for her. He also makes a shocking confession that he blacked out the night Alison died and had been under the impression that he may have been the one to kill her, but since he believes it was Ian he is no longer worried. He even shows Aria a note he recieved saying "I know what you did".
Leading the "A" mystery is now on the shoulders of Emily (a role that Spencer had in the first four episodes of this season). The other Liars are ready to move on but Emily is more skeptical. She continues looking a picture of the suicide note and gets a text from "A" that reads "Hey Em, is it just me or does the suicide not look familiar?" Later she is picking up a package for her Mom and recognizes the employee as Logan Reed, the decoy hired to distract the girls from Ian in the Season 1 finale. Emily is now inspired to review their past text messages from "A". She later shocks the girls when she points out that the note was made up of the text messages such as "She knew too much" and "Come find me". Ian never confessed to Alison's murder. She later pressures Logan who confesses that a woman hired him, he never met her or Ian. Emily tries to share this with Spencer, but she wants to move on. Emily confides some of her theories in her cop friend Garret. He promises to look into it but apparently is still working with Jenna. After another message from "A" that reads "Sometimes the distance between point A to point B is the long way around", Emily takes the girls to the cemetary.
Hanna's mother confesses that this past year she has been living in fear that something horrible could happen to Hanna. Hanna assures her the nightmare is over now. Caleb checks on Hanna and the two begin to have a friendship again. Hanna finds out about Caleb's foster mom keeping the money she recieves for him while he's still living with Lucas. Hanna later takes it upon herself to stand up to Caleb's foster mom with empty threats. Which later work and push Hanna and Caleb into a liplock at the end of the episode. Hanna talks with her Mom about her grandfather whom her mother had a bad relationship with, and Hanna promises to be respectful at the funeral.
The Hasting family is debating on what to do about Ian's funeral. Melissa remains in a silent depression, so Spencer stands up and tells her family that they need to have a funeral for Ian. Her mother later apoligizes for not believing Spencer and pushing her away from her friends. The Hasting family holds a service for Ian, and use security to keep out unwanted guests. Spencer recieves a text from "A" warning her about the ring "Would Mommy hug a thief? Tell the truth Spencer or get the ring when you least expect it". Spencer is ready to confess to Melissa, but Melissa stops her and begins apoligizing. Right as Melissa is about to confess a secret to Spencer, another "ring" comes unexpectadly. Ian's cell phone is ringing from Spencer's purse. Spencer has no idea how it got there, but Melissa jumps to the conclusion that Spencer was behind the texts that had supposedly came from Ian. Melissa berates Spencer and storms out.
The girls go the cemetary with Emily. They are shocked when they see "A" projecting the last video of Alison with Ian. Only this time the video plays on and reveales that Alison was still alive after Ian left, leaving them to the conclusion that Ian is not the murder! This raises a million more questions. This episode gets the grade A, it reminds us of how incredibly shocking and exciting Pretty Little Liars can be and proves that they haven't even begun to run out of fuel on this show.

Pretty Little Liars: Blind Dates
"Nosey Bitches Die!"
A more intense and dark episode of Pretty Little Liars indeed! Blind Dates surprisingly didn't feature Jenna, (the title seemed to lead that way). Everything dark in suspense, emotion, and fear. Last year's problems seem simple compared to this season.
Aria is happy that her family life is getting back to normal with her mother being back in the house. Her brother Michael is not so pleased and his attitude worries her. She soon finds out that he has not been playing basketball after school as he has been claiming. She speaks with his friends and has an encounter with Jason where he informs her that he always liked her interesting personality (and hair). Once Aria confronts Mike we see a darker side to him. Mike doesn't appreciate what he sees as insincere behavior by his family trying to be perfect. He threatens to spill about her hanging with her friends if she rats on him. Aria is forced to cover for her brother and remain in the dark about what he's up to.
Emily is living a lie that keeps getting worse. "A" once again taunts her when Emily recieves Danby University gifts welcoming her to the "A"-Team. As her mother is spreading the "good" news, Emily confesses to Samara (whom she is currently dating). After bringing Samara home she almost confesses to her mother but Samara swoops in and suggest that they don't lock in on Danby just yet. Emily is relieved that Samara has bought her more time and the two plan their next date.
Hanna's mother realizes she is the only one not to get a solo session with their therapist and pushes Hanna do change that. Hanna goes to her session but does not contribute or open up as much as had been hoped. Hanna plays love doctor again when Lucas begs her to double date with Caleb to make his date with Danielle ("Yearbook Danielle") go more smoothly. A reluctant Hanna attends with Caleb, pretending to be interested in him. They begin to bond over their caring for Lucas but Hanna keeps him at arm's length. The two are pushed to act closer when Danielle fears Hanna still likes Lucas. Inspired by Lucas's admiration for her growth since Alison died, Hanna goes to talk to the therapist. In her session she finally tells "Alison" that she was her best friend but worst enemy. "Alison" reminds her that her low self-esteem will never go away and Hefty Hanna could return. Hanna still feels taunted by Alison even after her death.
Spencer remains the central girl in the Ian mystery this season. She is devestated when she finds out the ring is gone and gets a text from "A" that reads: "Just my luck, diamonds are a girl's best friend". She later confronts Wren who confesses that he is getting Melissa drugs for Ian. He was unaware of how dangerous Ian was towards Spencer and says he is only helping to make up for the past. Spencer later goes through Melissa's stuff and finds evidence of her helping Ian. Spencer and Wren begin working together. After a call from Wren, Spencer and the girls follow Melissa to find out where Ian. After hearing sobbing and screaming the girls race in to find Ian has apparently committed suicide and left a letter confessing to Alison's murder!!!
"A" is seen watching the girls outside of where they found Ian. We also suspect "A" trashed the therapist's office and wrote: Nosey Bitches Die!
We give this episode an A! Not as relatable of an episode but damn the drama was good!!!
